Artist Statement

When I think about what defines my photography and I, I am reminded of the famous quote, “life is a journey, not a destination.”  My photography expresses those experiences that have influenced my life and drives me to explore the future.  Like most travels, mine was not a straight line to photography.  My passion for creating lead me to designing interiors, and furniture, but the road with began food.  I have always had a love for baking.  Growing up in an Italian family it’s hard to escape from food.  When you walk in the door the first thing you are asked is “what do you want to eat.” Hungry or not you were handed a plate, and no matter how much you resisted you never left empty handed.  My grandmother was the baker in their family and she passed that love on to me.  She taught me what ingredients added more flavor, which flour rose better, and most importantly the art of presentation.  Whatever she made not only had to be delicious but had to look appetizing as well.

My goal is to create photographs that evoke thought, feelings and call attention to what may have been forgotten or overlooked.  As an artist I strive and create images by finding beauty and interest in these subtle details.  Constructing photos that attract views by capturing the right light, creating a sense of mood and a dynamic composition.  My work is a culmination of memories from my past, and a look into what may be a head down the road.
